The country has experienced a wave of natural disasters and other emergencies that put stress on hospitals and healthcare providers as they serve affected communities.  Now, we are in the midst of an global public health crisis with US response efforts with COVID-19.  This has raised new and unprecedented challenges to the healthcare system.

GPOs are on the front lines of the response effort, providing support to healthcare providers and working with manufacturers to identify and locate supplies of much-needed resources.  GPOs’ unique line of sight over the healthcare system enables them to support emergencies like we are faced today, working with all healthcare stakeholders throughout the delivery system as well as the public sector to support a coordinated, comprehensive response.

HSCA and its members provide critical leadership and expertise in emergency preparedness and offer strategic thinking to support the healthcare industry to meet the needs of their patients. This includes work with the HHS Strategic National Stockpile, FDA, Congress, the Administration, and the healthcare community to inform response, protect the supply chain, and ensure hospitals and healthcare providers are equipped to treat and prevent the spread of this disease.

Khatereh Calleja, President and CEO, of the Healthcare Supply Chain Association (HSCA), which represents the nation’s leading healthcare group purchasing organizations (GPOS), the sourcing and purchasing partners to virtually all of America’s 7,000+ hospitals, as well as the vast majority of the 68,000+ long term care facilities, surgery centers, clinics, and other healthcare providers will provide frontline perspective on GPO leadership in today’s healthcare and specifically address critical work in emergency preparedness and challenges and opportunities of the future.

As part of the discussion, we will cover:
